You cannot give up liberties in order to preserve freedom, they are one in the same...

Donald Trump is the 2nd Amendment's Wolf in Sheep's Clothing...Trump is dangerous. He is a sure bet against the Second Amendment...

https://www.gunowners.org/alertcruz02252016.htm

While he claims to be for the 2nd amendment and its "The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period" (https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/second-amendment-rights, ) In his own words from the recent past state that he probably will not honor what the 2nd amendment protects.

"In his autobiography, Trump endorsed the semi-auto ban and a longer waiting period on firearms purchases.  And, caught unaware by a questioner, he endorsed Chuck Schumer’s plan to take away guns from anyone Barack Obama chose to put on a secret list -- which suggests he doesn't understand some of the seminal issues which face us. And now Trump is bragging about the “deals he’ll make” specifically with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.  That’s REALLY SCARY. "

GOA (Gun Owners of America) are the solid and consistent non-compromising group when it comes to fighting for the 2nd Amendment. The NRA has over the years have made compromises along the way in order to try to play the politician's game and they have lost serious ground in the fight. Well meaning folks have done this in other areas as well such as the right the right to life. The failure comes when folks give up their ground in order to go fight the enemy on their ground and this consistently relinquishes real estate to the enemy causing a further slip away from freedom and further towards tyranny.

In regards to giving up liberties in order to preserve freedoms, this idea is self-refuting.

Every law in existence that diminishes the right to bear arms from locks to mags only results in a degradation of the amendment itself and realistically opens the door for only further restrictions in the future, not freedoms. Well meaning people see these as matters of safety and that giving up  some liberties along the way somehow protects freedom in the overall scope of things.

The idea is self-refuting because you cannot give up liberties, no matter how good it feels, in order to preserve freedom. They are one in the same...You give up one you lose both.
