But Jesus ate with sinners!!!

You hear this a lot these days.

More often than not it is the response given when a professing Christian is choosing to partake in the sins of a particular establishment such as a bar or a movie theater. The list here could go on forever but those are two major ones I can think of at this time.

Most recently I have heard people use this as justification for them going to see certain movies such as the recently rebooted "Beauty and the Beast". I will not go into the granular details as to why that move is evil and why a Christian ought to never make any excuses for doing so as I have done so at length on previous posts. Let's just suffice it to say, it is evil and to view it for entertainment (self-gratification) would be sinful, plain and simple.

There are no excuses for sin...

With that said, Jesus may have dined with sinners but He did not partake of their sins.

There is a big difference there and people need to adjust their logic when throwing excuses like that around as they are not being truthful and they have no support from scriptures when they do these sorts of things.

Something to consider:

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 1 Corinthians 5:11

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:6-16

I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. John 17:14-21
