2016 election...What is the solution for us during this election cycle or any for that matter?

This is a conversation I just had with some folks on FB regarding this coming election. I was challenged with providing a solution.

My answer was simply that I am not the one with the solution but God has one. He has a short term solution and a long term solution. Both are clear in His Word.

During this online conversation I provided the short term solution only as that is our focus here and now. This short term solution is laid out perfectly and plainly in God's Word.

This is how the conversation went:

ME: Reagan, Bush, and another Bush and abortion is as legal as it has ever been. Your advise is to choose the lesser of two evils when God says to abstain from all appearances of evil...

Believer #1: Amen, my friend!!!

Believer #2: Good argument, what's your solution then?
 
ME:  Pray without ceasing. The Bible has our solution. If we are told to do something specific or not to do something specific then we ought not disobey God. You are at liberty to do so but you will be at odds with God. The world's philosophy says you have to vote for the lesser of two evils and God says not to. I would say the answer needs to come from God and not from me. Fasting, prayer and meditating on His Word is the best solution I know from a Biblical perspective.

God's solution for us during this time:

Pray without ceasing...Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 21-23

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Psalm 1

We ought to do for America just as Daniel did for Israel:

In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
