Being impractical in this world is practical living for a believer...

Being a Christian in every aspect of life should be somewhat if not very impractical as per the world's standards.

We are to be a peculiar people set apart from the world and all the while when that world persecutes us through hatred due to them seeing us as being impractical we should always remember that the world first hated Jesus Christ and killed Him for not being practical per their standards.

Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8   And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9   But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10   Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
12   Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1 Peter 2:7-12

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2   And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
2   O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
3   But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
4   Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
5   Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
6   There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
7   Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
8   I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. Psalm 4

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19   If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20   Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21   But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22   If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
23   He that hateth me hateth my Father also. John 15:18-23

So it is true that being impractical in this world is practical living for a believer.
