You can go to the website (https://billygraham.org/answer/does-god-forgive-the-sins-we-will-commit-in-the-future-or-just-those-from-our-past/) for the complete text regarding the answer but I since the answer ought to be scriptural and not "interpreted" per se it is best to focus on the verse that was used to supposedly support the answer. The answer itself is rooted in the modern doctrine of once saved always saved (OSAS). In order for OSAS to be secure in the minds of it's proponents then it begs to reason that the answer to this question would be, yes. They have to believe that when they became born again then any sin they would commit in the future would be covered as well with the blood of Jesus without any repentance required. The OSAS supporters believe in essence that once you become born again then you can do whatever you want and that whenever sin occurs it is then covered by grace.
The question asked was "Does God forgive the sins we will commit in the future, or just those from our past? I became a Christian two years ago, and I worry about this."
This was the verse given to support Billy Graham's answer: "The Bible says that Christ “appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself” (Hebrews 9:26)."
I will provide both an Old Testament and a New Testament scripture to demonstrate clearly why this answer is wrong. Not by my assessment but by God's mind you.
Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. [21] Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. Ezekiel 3:20-21
Righteous as per the Biblical definition, especially within the context in how it used here, means being in a "right standing" with God. If a man is seen as righteous in God's eyes then he is saved. In regards to the context here, if you go back to the previous verses you will see that the same situations as noted for the Righteous man were also stated for the wicked man, some will try to say that the righteous man mentioned here is someone who is righteous in their own eyes but this contradicts the literal context as well as the original intent of what God was saying here regarding how "righteous" is used. So those who are righteous in their own eyes are wicked in God's eyes so to say the righteous man here is not saved contradicts God's words.
What God was saying through the prophet Ezekiel was clearly that if a righteous man decides to leave God and commits sin (iniquity) then he falls outside of God's grace and his righteousness is no longer remembered by God. In other words, he is not saved. No one outside of God's grace is saved as you are saved only by the grace that He extended to us through the shedding of blood and death of His Son Jesus Christ.
When the righteous man heeds the warning regarding his sin and he sins not or stops doing it or in other words repents then he will live. In God's kingdom when God says someone will live in this context that means they are saved.
Now the New Testament scripture actually spells out specifically the answer to the question regarding 'does God forgive the sins we will commit in the future?'
The answer given by Billy Graham and that is accepted by the majority of the supporters of the modern doctrine of OSAS is that once you are saved, no matter what you do, your future sins are forgiven.
Paul said that this was not so. He told the church at Rome literally that the sacrifice of Jesus through His blood provided remission for sins that are "past". Yes the death of Jesus Christ was a one time thing but to say that you can accept that and then live a life of unrepented sin is literally trampling through the blood of Jesus as if it were a trivial thing. No wonder Paul told the Philippians to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Phil 2:12). No wonder Paul's letter to Romans emphasized the question "Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" (Romans 6:1). His blunt answer to that was "God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" (vs. 2).
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; [22] Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: [23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [24] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; [26] To declare, I say , at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Romans 3:21-26
I will not get into the selfish and worldly philosophies that typically arise to argue against anyone today such as myself who point out that the Bible does not support OSAS because they typically twist and turn through scriptures with much efforts to win. These folks typically never concede to the simple truths that the Bible presents. They try to say that someone such as myself has no hope. As an avid studier of God's Word I can clearly say that I do have much hope. I accept that God's Kingdom is not one without rules and conditions which in reality is exactly the Kingdom that OSAS followers believe exists.
God's Kingdom is here and now and it is not one ruled by anarchy...
