Aim to be respectful and respected…

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12

When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. Luke 14:8-14

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Romans 12:9-13

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.  Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:3-8

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. Titus 2:7-8

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. Proverbs 22:29

Christian, have you made up a god to suit yourself as well?

Many people today have created essentially false gods in their minds and hearts and claim these are the God of the Bible.

They pull out every verse they can find about God being a god of love and then attempt to rest their case on these scriptures alone. They do this more often than not to suit their own selfish needs.

God is indeed love but they have not included everything.

Many tend to especially leave out the following particular scriptures below. These give more details regarding the full character of God. There are more, of course, but these seem to be the most overlooked ones.

Taking these scriptures into consideration, as we always should, does not take away from the fact that God is a loving God. They do however add to the reality that God is a just God and that He does not like sin, at all...After all He had to send His only Son to die for sins so it makes sense that God does not like nor does He tolerate sin.

The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Psalm 5:5

The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Psalm 11:5

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4

It is a truly fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31) so it is best that we get it right when we say that we serve the one true living God as described in His word.

Anything short of this is a god we are making up in our own minds.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:3-6

Heavy on the Grace, light on the conditional piece...Not a good approach folks...

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1

When this verse is thrown around in today's "Christian" conversations it seems the verse is read more like this:

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus"...

They do this as if there are no conditions included.

But the verse is truly a conditional statement.

Without the condition being met, "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit", then the outcome, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus", is not a reality.

James explained this well in that without works faith is dead.

He did not say that works save you but only that if your faith was really alive then it would be bearing fruit.

Bearing fruit is a clear indication that someone is indeed walking not after the flesh but after the Spirit.

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:17-26

Is the Church today looking more like the Bride of Christ or the Bride of Lot???

We see in scriptures that the church is a bride being prepared for her marriage to the Lamb:

Revelation 19:7-9  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

If one examines the doctrines and practices of the Church today he would find that she looks more like Lot's wife than a bride preparing herself for her marriage to the Lamb.

She has grasped onto a gospel unlike that which was given to her by Her Saviour Jesus Christ.

She has accepted the world's lie that she can hold onto the things of the world, much in the same way that Lot's wife held onto Sodom in her heart as she looked back despite being told not to.

The Church today has not left Sodom at all actually.

She has gone so far as to welcoming the heathen into her sanctuaries and congregations despite God's word saying not to do so (See Lamentations 1:10).

The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation. Lamentations 1:10

Instead of going out into the world to preach the gospel she has opted to stay inside her church buildings for the most part. Instead of going out as she was told to do she instead invites the world in, She tells the world that they will feel right at home and this is no wonder as she looks so much like the world. She has failed to set herself apart from the world.

Some would say, "but what about all those mission trips and all those radio and TV programs?". Those are so riddled with the world's philosophies and doctrines (dispensationalism, or in other words, the 'pick and choose' workarounds for the application of scriptures, greasy grace, etc, etc.) that just like the loaf is ruined with just a little leaven the messages that are sent out are poisoned as well. Thus a false doctrinal message is preached instead of the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us  1 Corinthians 5:6-7

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

The church today holds tightly to the false doctrine that she can keep on sinning so that God's grace can much more abound. She does this despite being told not to.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Romans 6:1-2

Today's church is making excuses for her sins instead of repenting and sinning no more.

Today's church actually somehow looks worse than Lot's wife. At least Lot's wife left Sodom but she did look back which ultimately resulted in the same outcome had she not left at all.

Luke 17:28-33: Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

Remember Lot's wife.

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Genesis 19:15-17, 25-26: And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. ...And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

We really ought not to be making excuses for our sins and living in them but instead we should be forsaking our sins and sinning no more, just as Jesus told the woman caught in the act of adultery (See John 8:11).

The church today, for the most part, does not have her lamps full  and ready. She is not preparing herself for the coming Bridegroom.

Just like Lot's wife, she is more focused on the things of the world than she is on the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 25:1-13: Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish. They that [were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, [Not so]; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

2 Corinthians 11:2-4 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Philippians 3:12-14 : Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

We ought to be the bride with our lamps full and with our eyes fulling focused on Jesus Christ, the one and only Bridegroom!

Look on the bright side. Things will get worse...

Sounds pessimistic? From a born again believer's perspective, not so much...

As a believer I actually believe this but I understand full well that while evil may be the overarching theme of any given day, God's goodness is traveling on parallel tracks at all times for those that love Him!

Sometimes we do not see the end result until we actually get to heaven but during all trials and tribulations we press on with our eyes on Jesus!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us,

and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2

We should be more diligent in walking in the light and not in the gray areas

I have noticed that there is no shortage of workarounds and gray areas when it comes to the modern church and it's people when it comes to their efforts in excusing or protecting their sins.

The latest I have seen came from a christian who wanted to justify going to watch Disney's reboot of 'Beauty and the Beast" despite its outward embracing of homosexualiaty and it's undertones of beastiality. Yes, that is exactly what it comes down to. To justify going to see it takes some serious working around the word of God and His commands in order to do so.

Simply put, we are told to prove all things; hold fast that which is good and to abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22

The excuse used by this christian went like this in his own words: "Yep, sin is present in this movie, just as it is present in every movie, home and church where sinners dwell...aka everywhere. While it is far easier to dwell on the sins that surround us, we chose to look for God's redeeming grace in all we do."

So since sin is everywhere it is ok to dabble in or be around things that are sinful, things that are not pleasing to God?  God's word says to do so would bring tragic consequences.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Romans 1:28-32

This requires additional emphasis so I will state it again.

Paul said clearly that those that participate or support (condone, tolerate, etc) anything that has to do with "unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful" and those "Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

This christian that I had the chat with referenced an article that essentially gave him his talking points and his line of reasoning. This was demonstrated in his reply to me where he said, and I will say it again here, "Yep, sin is present in this movie, just as it is present in every movie, home and church where sinners dwell...aka everywhere. While it is far easier to dwell on the sins that surround us, we chose to look for God's redeeming grace in all we do.".

Another thing that came to my mind when he said this was what Paul wrote to the church in Rome "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? [2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Romans 6:1-2

My reply to him went like this:

"It's more than a princess movie. It has elements in it that God hates as per His word, namely magic. If God finds magic an abomination then why would we play around with it, even if we are just using  imagination? Sin is rooted first in the mind, the it infects the heart and so on...more: http://www.kuwlministries.com/2016/08/hey-christians-once-again-magic-is-it.html"

And

..."we should reprove it not excuse it for the sake of entertainment. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:11"

and

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? [15] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? [16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them ; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. [17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing ; and I will receive you, [18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18"

People all around the church today look for "gray" areas such as noted above. They fight back with anyone who would try to reprove them of their sins by saying something like "its my Christian liberty, you can't judge me!".

There are many reasons why that popular mantra is so wrong. Technically there really are no gray areas in God's economy. There is light and dark and that is seen throughout scriptures. The safest way to look at this if there is an area that seems gray to you, stay away from it.

Another reason this mantra is all wrong is the judging part. I will not go too much into this but we are told to judge one another within the church, admonishing, rebuking and reproving wherever it is needed. The logic that we are not judge each other flies against the word of God. There is a book about judges as well, go figure. So this is a silly and non-biblical argument and it is typically used to defend sin.

Christians ought to embrace being judged. David begged God to judge him to make sure he was right with God. That is the attitude we ought to have instead of trying to protect all the 'gray' areas.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

As for them claiming Christian Liberty in order to excuse their selfish dabbling in a so-called "gray" area (there are none...) the Bible says they should not be using their liberty for selfish things but to serve God and others.

But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. 1 Corinthians 8:9 KJV

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13 KJV

As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 1 Peter 2:16 KJV

Jesus gave us the best example that we ought to follow. He was God made flesh who came and dwelt among His creation. He did not come to be served but instead He came to serve.

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:44-45

So as for this whole issue regarding 'gray' areas, when it comes to being a Christian should there really be any? I would say that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. Gray is not light but a partial covering of the light causing a mix of darkness and light. the Bible says that a a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump (Galatians 5:9) so in that sense we ought to not have any to do with sin but instead we ought to walk in the light of the Lord!

We should be more diligent in walking in the light and not in the gray areas.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7

OSAS, once again its like trying to shove a round peg into square hole...when you read what Jesus said about God's kingdom, well it's just doesn't fit...

If one is saved then they are part of the Kingdom of God.

In fact the Kingdom of God is within a person who is saved:

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21

The Kingdom of God is not simply a destination in the after-life as some may want to think it is. In fact it is here and now. Jesus and John both said that it was "at hand" on several occasions (Matthew 3:2, 4:17, 10:7, Mark 1:15).

So if citizenship in God's kingdom is a done deal and no one supposedly can opt out and leave this kingdom (i.e. Once saved always saved (OSAS),) and since OSAS claims that the Kingdom cannot be taken from someone then why did Jesus say that some of those "chosen" ones would be cast out of the kingdom or that the kingdom would be taken from them?

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.. Matthew 8:12

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Matthew 21:43

I know the scriptural gymnastics that are required to flip around this problem. I had to believe in the false dispensational interpretations of scriptures as well at one time in order for me to accept OSAS. I have since realized that God never changes and this includes His plan of salvation. When you realize this then it becomes apparent that salvation is indeed of a great price (Mark 13) and something that ought to be worked out with fear and trembling as Paul said to the church at Philippi (2:12).

This biblical line of thinking is in no way proposing that it is a ‘works based’ salvation. Salvation was provided once and for all on the cross by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is available to anyone who would accept it.

What I am saying that faith is, in a way, works based, in the sense that without good works, done selflessly and solely for the glory of the Lord, faith is dead.

No good works=no faith and no faith=no salvation. That is sound biblical math according to James.

James 2:17-26 says:

Folks have asked me why am I so passionate about this subject? Well when the modern day doctrine of OSAS is preached with the extra dose of greasy grace that typically comes with it, it gives many, who by biblical definitions are not saved, the false assurance that they are saved. It tells them that they can somehow serve two masters in their daily living. The Bible is clear you cannot serve both God and yourself (i.e. habitual life of willful sin). This is a false gospel and leaves a soul in critical danger.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God   Exodus 34:14

Was Jesus also a Pharisee?

This is in regards to the modern practice of labeling people who correctly call out sin as being Pharisaical, oh the sad irony…

This very much involves the world’s position and this is pushed onto Christians in that we ought not to judge anyone when sin is being committed. Instead the world says you should accept them as they are and to embrace them with so-called love and do not judge them by calling out the sin as this would ‘push them away’. The world says that calling out sin is not being ‘loving’.

The church has accepted this position to the point that if anyone was to call out sin in a sinner then they are labeled as a ‘Pharisee’.

It is interesting because based on this logic then Jesus would be a ‘Pharisee’ as well and not very ‘loving’.

But Jesus is not a Pharisee.

Jesus is the one and only true Rabbi.

Jesus is love.

Jesus gave us His example to follow when calling out sin and that it ought to be done regardless of what you or the world think may happen if you do it to the contrary.

Jesus called out the Pharisee’s sins and He was very blunt in doing so. Their sins were for the most part centered on adding to God’s law and enforcing it to the point of enslaving the people in legalistic bondage, outside of God’s intended purpose of His law.  This was not all that Jesus pointed out but for the most part He focused on the Pharisees redefining sin and adding to the law. God’s law was specific and the spirit of His law is also obvious throughout scriptures but in no way does God’s law prevent calling out sin and calling it what it is and that is it is sin. In fact, God’s law specifically tells us what sin is so we really ought to know what it is when we see it (or do it…).

Paul said “I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.” Romans 7:7b and “…But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful”. Romans 7:13b

By today’s standards many would call Jesus a Pharisee if He did today the same thing He did to Pharisees back when He walked among them. Jesus not only pointed out their sins but He labeled them harshly by calling them “fools and blind”, “blind guides”, “ whited sepulchers…full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness”, “serpents”,  “generation of vipers”...

Matthew 23:
Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Matthew 23

And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace. Luke 7:36-50

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:10-14

And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,
And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:
The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?
But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.
And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.
And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things…
…And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.
And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?
But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's.
And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.
And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.
Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
Last of all the woman died also.
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
And after that they durst not ask him any question at all…
…Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation. Luke 20:1-8, 19-40, 46-47

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?...
…And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. Matthew 21:12-16, 23-46

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.
And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. Mark 10:2-12

Jesus also pointed out plainly for those whom He forgave that they indeed had sinned. He commanded them to go and sin no more.

Not only is today’s “Church” advising people to not call out sin but they also claim that it is impossible to go on without committing any particular sin that a person has been forgiven of. This flies directly contrary to what Jesus showed and taught us. We ought to know that with God all things are indeed possible. To say that we cannot do these things through Christ is calling God a liar and labeling one’s self as a humanist. After all it is the humanist that says “you are only human and thus you will mess up” while the Christian knows that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”. Philippians 4:13

So we can and should call out sin and encourage folks to stop sinning as well…If you do this you are not being a Pharisee but are acting as God’s ambassador here on earth, doing the things that Christ taught us.

She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:11

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John 5:14

Paul and Timothy go on to clearly teach the same message that Jesus lived and taught in regards to calling out (reproving, rebuking, exhorting, etc) sin.

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:10-11

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:2

I have perhaps exasperated this subject and certainly can give many more scriptural proofs towards this conclusion but to do so would entail almost copying and pasting a huge portion of the Old and New Testaments. What has been provided above ought to be sufficient enough.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

What the Bible says about having children...

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. [28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:27-28 KJV

And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. [10] And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. [11] Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. [12] Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? [13] And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? [14] Is any thing too hard for the Lord ? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. [15] Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh...[1] And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. [2] For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. [3] And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. [4] And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. [5] And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. [6] And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. [7] And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age. Genesis 18:9-15, and 21:1-7

And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. Genesis 25:21

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord : and the fruit of the womb is his reward. [4] As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. [5] Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. Psalm 127:3-5

And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. [3] And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord , were there. [4] And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: [5] But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the Lord had shut up her womb. [6] And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the Lord had shut up her womb. [7] And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord , so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. [8] Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons? [9] So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord . [10] And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord , and wept sore. [11] And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. [12] And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the Lord , that Eli marked her mouth. [13] Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. [14] And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. [15] And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord . [16] Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. [17] Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. [18] And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad . [19] And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord , and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her. [20] Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying , Because I have asked him of the Lord. 1 Samuel 1:2-20

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. [6] And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. [7] And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. [8] And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course, [9] According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. [10] And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. [11] And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. [12] And when Zacharias saw him , he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. [13] But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. [14] And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. [15] For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. [16] And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. [17] And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. [18] And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. [19] And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. [20] And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season. [21] And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple. [22] And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless. [23] And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house. [24] And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, [25] Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me , to take away my reproach among men. [26] And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, [27] To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. [28] And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. [29] And when she saw him , she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. [30] And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. [31] And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. [32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: [33] And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. [34] Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? [35] And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. [36] And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. [37] For with God nothing shall be impossible. [38] And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. [39] And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; [40] And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. [41] And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: [42] And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. [43] And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [44] For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. [45] And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. [46] And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, [47] And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. [48] For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. [49] For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. [50] And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. [51] He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. [52] He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. [53] He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. [54] He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; [55] As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. [56] And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house. [57] Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son. [58] And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. Luke 1:5-58

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. [4] Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. Psalm 128:3-4

The ends do not justify the means for the Bible believing Christian!

Obeying God is not legalism if you do it because He is worthy and because you love Him. In this same manner it is never "pharisaical" to obey God.

I say this because people such as myself, in times past, tend to be quick to give anecdotal "proof" in the validity of not following God's Word. All the while saying they are following God's word.

Just because following the world's emotional and self-fulling way in certain circumstances may yield what appears to be positive results does not constitute it as approved of God, especially if it counters His word.

I just read an example of this on a separate thread that once again shows that this is common practice.

I expect that comment made on the other thread will get many 'likes' because it feels good and tickles the emotional ear just right. Yet as I read through the post many, many verses came to mind that said it was wrong as per a Biblical perspective.

We are to obey God not for what we get out of it but because He is holy.

It is not for us to manipulate the 'means' in order to justify the 'means'.

If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14

You cannot be friends with Jesus and the world.

You can only have one or the other…

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:1-14

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4

Priorities…

A very important thing that we must get correct in this life is how we set our priorities.

This has eternal implications if we get it wrong.

Jesus gave us clear teachings regarding setting our priorities correctly and we ought to apply these directly to our lives.

These are neatly laid out for us in the Gospel of Luke:

And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:59-62

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple…whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26-27, 33b

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Luke 16:13

Pray that their eyes and ears would be opened to the truth…

We see in God’s word the importance of the eyes and ears being open to the truth.

Unless a person’s eyes and ears are open to the truth they are essentially unreachable.

When you go out to share the gospel with anyone let prayer pave the way for a specific agenda. Pray that their eyes and ears would be opened and that they would be able to thus receive God’s word and believe.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew 11:15

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew 13:9

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. [14] And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: [15] For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. [16] But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. [17] For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them ; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. Matthew 13:13-17

Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew 13:43

And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. [11] And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: [12] That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Mark 4:9,11-12

If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. [24] And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. Mark 4:23-24

If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. Mark 7:16

...He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Luke 8:8

...He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Luke 14:35

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did , so do ye. Acts 7:51

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: [27] For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Acts 28:26-27

[28] Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. Acts 28:26-28

But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. [31] And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. Luke 24:16,31

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Ephesians 1:18

You must be born again...

In binary logic in regards to truth '1' and '1' is always '1' and '1' and '0' is always '0'.

'1' equals 'on' or 'true' or 'born", if you will, and '0' = 'off' or 'false' or "die", if you will.

It is no mistake that God created logic and we do see it consistent throughout nature and we also see similar outcome scenarios with being born again.

Born only once die twice.

You must be born again.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God...Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:3 and 7

Only one event has any historical significance...everything else is trivial...

The only history that matters is what Christ did on the Cross many years ago.

In Old Testament times this was the only event that God's people truly had to look forward to because it meant that their needed salvation was going to become a reality.

The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:14-24

That day that the Lord hath made is the only day in history that matters for all believers today.

Everything else is incredibly trivial in comparison.

God’s Word on the matter of the equality of people.

Many in the world today insist that all people are equal regardless of their political affiliation, world view, ethnicity, race, nationality, gender or sexuality.

God’s Word takes exception with all of the above associations and essentially relegates them as non-essentials when it comes to real and substantial eternal equality or in other words when it comes to the worth of any man or woman none of those things actually matter.

While the world says everyone is equal, God’s word states that he accepts only those who fear Him, those who are producing righteousness within His economy. He does not give preference to anyone who does not fear Him nor to anyone who does not work righteousness.

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. Acts 10:34-35

And still many in the world want to insist that all people are equal no matter what.

God’s word says that last will be first and that the servant of all is the greater than anyone who is living by the world’s standards.

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:44-45

God does not give preference to anyone who does not believe in Him through His Son Jesus Christ.

God blesses the poor in spirit, those that mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, those who are persecuted for righteousness, and those who are reviled and persecuted for Jesus. God does not bless those who do not seek and follow Him through His Son Jesus Christ.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matthew 5:3-12

The world says that the Christian has equal value  to a person who does not follow after Christ. God shows us in His word that He completely disagrees with the world’s standards, especially in regards to equality, and that He has the one and only and much higher standard.

There is only one way to reach His standard.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Only God’s standard has value both now and forever.

Christian, have you lost the ability to blush as well?

The world today, including professing Christians, have lost their ability to blush.

When we are not modest or when we see immodesty and sin in general we should blush as was mentioned in Ezra.

And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. Ezra 9:6

Instead, people today have lost their ability to blush over immodesty and sin in general. This problem was also noted in Jeremiah's time.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. Jeremiah 6:15

Once was the time in our society when many would blush because they were embarrassed when they were confronted with immodesty.

Now we have it where most are embarrassed to blush over immodesty and sin in general.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20

A life for a life. It is the least we can do for Him...

True, there is absolutely nothing we can do to save ourselves. His death on the cross indeed is a gift done purely out of His grace.

The cost to Him was everything but do we not give up something as well?

While it is true that our following Him does nothing to save us it is just as true that if we do not deny ourselves and forsake and bear our cross to follow Him we cannot be His disciple.Jesus said this clearly.  If we do not give up all we cannot say that are we truly following Him.

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. [27] And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. [28] For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it ? [29] Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it , all that behold it begin to mock him, [30] Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. [31] Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? [32] Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. [33] So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26-33

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. [26] For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26

He gave His life for us and it makes sense that in return we give our lives to Him.

We don't have to, we get to!

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. [45] For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:44-45

He gave of Himself to die under the crushing weight of every sin ever committed. Not just my sins but the sins of the whole world.

He paid, in the most literal of sense, everything so that we could be reconciled back to our Heavenly Father.

The least we can do is give our lives to Him.

Using Circular Reasoning to prove that the God of the Christian Bible does exist...

Yes, you heard me right.

You can and should use circular reasoning when you are going about to prove that your God exists.

Evolutionists (atheists) do this all the time as well but fail in staying consistently within the boundaries of their supposed worldview. They believe that all things can be proven within the natural, physical realm and through what they call science.

The godless naturalist argues that origins explained by evolution is real science and that origins explained by creation is not.

Sad news for the godless naturalist. David Hume, one of the gods in the world of atheism (naturalism, etc) said that essentially science can not prove science based on the problem that he saw in inductive reasoning in that it was circular in nature and could not prove anything beyond what it assumes. I agree with him given the limits that ought to be recognized within the Atheist's worldview. They should not be able to rely on inductive reasoning but they do regardless of the boundaries that should be there in their worldview. They have no way of predicting outcomes but they pretend to do so by borrowing from the Christian Worldview.

And yet they continue to insist that they have the real science.

Christians have the means to prove beyond what we are assuming and then some...

"The validity of Scientific Laws were undermined by Hume when he contended that we have no rational basis for expecting the future to be like the past - to be the types of events (so that when one event happened, it's a type of event so that when you see it happening somewhere else) you can expect the same consequence from similar causation. Hume suggested that there was no rational basis for expecting the future to be like the past, in which case Science is based simply on convention or habits of thought." - Dr. Greg Bahsen
People accuse Christians all the time for using circular reasoning. And they are correct in doing so. But the Christian is not being logically fallacious in using God's word to prove that God is real and that He indeed does exist exactly as the Bible states.

Darius and Karin Viet stated it well when they responded to a Christian who was being accused of this very thing. They said that "God exists and has revealed Himself in His inerrant, authoritative Word—is the ultimate standard. Presupposing God exists to argue that God exists is a reasonable circular argument because without the God of the Bible, we have no basis for assuming the laws of logic and their properties, let alone absolute morality or the uniformity of nature."

Darius and Karin also stated that "everyone uses some degree of circular reasoning when defending his ultimate standard (though not everyone realizes this fact)" and that "Circular reasoning is a logical fallacy only when it is arbitrary, proving nothing beyond what it assumes."

Thy money perish with thee…

This is for those caught up in the 10% is enough mentality. If you are part of this crowd you are part of the majority these days.

This is not a good thing.

It is logically fallacious (argumentum ad populum) to try and justify this based on “everyone is doing it in the church so it must be ok”.   There are several popular doctrines that fall into this category today with tithing being just one of those.

The concept of tithing 10% is pushed in today’s churches even when Malachi was not focused on tithing at all but his preaching was a specific calling for a full return of the priests back to God as well as the people as a whole.

We are told throughout the New Testament that God wants all of us, not just ten percent of our earnings.

Jesus said it clearly when He said “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26-33

This bears repeating, “…whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple”.

Many today purposefully fall into the same trap that Simon fell into when he was seeking after Godly things with his money. People are told that they ought to give ten percent of their earnings and then they have this idea that somehow that they have done enough. Then they go and spend the remainder of their earnings to chase after carnal things. Many excuse their behavior by incorrectly claiming Christian liberty yet they are actually using their liberty as an occasion for the flesh and as a cloak of maliciousness.

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13

As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 1 Peter 2:16

While Peter said the following to Simon, this can easily be applied to many today.

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. Acts 8:20-23

Be careful if you are part of those who are thinking a fraction is enough and that the remainder of the money (and material things in general) God wants you to enjoy for yourself. Be careful because that is a lie straight from the pit of hell. You were created for God’s good pleasure. He is not there for your good pleasure. We should be serving Him and the expectation is 100%. Many walk away due to the high cost of returning to their Creator but for those who do believe and submit to Him understand the true joy and liberty that comes from being under His protection and authority.

More regarding God’s expectations regarding following Him:

If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. James 4:7-8

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:17-20

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Matthew 7:13-14, 21-27

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24

Separate yourselves so you do not vex your righteous souls…

We have had to draw hard lines with those who would not understand why we cannot be around certain things. Our loved ones such as my own mom and dad, my sister and my brother have been the hardest to work with on these things so we ended having to put up definite boundaries.

We also saw the dangers of bringing our eldest two children with us for street preaching in downtown Austin when they were 6 and 8 years old. We realized that we were putting them in an environment that was vexing their souls due to all the wickedness that was before their eyes. I am accountable for allowing that and I had no excuse and could only repent and pull them to safety.

The carnal Christians see no dangers in all of this as they cherish their friendship with the world over their love for God but we who are aware of the holiness and righteousness of almighty God know that this is a very serious matter with eternal consequences. We know that friendship with the world is enmity with God.

VEX as defined in the Webster’s 1828:

, verb transitive [Latin vexo.]

1. To irritate; to make angry by little provocations; a popular use of the word.

2. To plague; to torment; to harass; to afflict.

Ten thousand torments vex my heart.

3. To disturb; to disquiet; to agitate.

White curl the waves, and the vex'd ocean roars.

4. To trouble; to distress.

I will also vex the hearts of many people. Ezekiel 32:9.

5. To persecute. Acts 12:1.

6. To stretch, as by hooks. [Not in use.]

VEX, verb intransitive To fret; to be teased or irritated.

The Bible's position on the matter:

And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 2 Peter 2:7-8

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. Psalm 101:3

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. Ephesians 5:10-12
