Is the Church today looking more like the Bride of Christ or the Bride of Lot???

We see in scriptures that the church is a bride being prepared for her marriage to the Lamb:

Revelation 19:7-9  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

If one examines the doctrines and practices of the Church today he would find that she looks more like Lot's wife than a bride preparing herself for her marriage to the Lamb.

She has grasped onto a gospel unlike that which was given to her by Her Saviour Jesus Christ.

She has accepted the world's lie that she can hold onto the things of the world, much in the same way that Lot's wife held onto Sodom in her heart as she looked back despite being told not to.

The Church today has not left Sodom at all actually.

She has gone so far as to welcoming the heathen into her sanctuaries and congregations despite God's word saying not to do so (See Lamentations 1:10).

The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation. Lamentations 1:10

Instead of going out into the world to preach the gospel she has opted to stay inside her church buildings for the most part. Instead of going out as she was told to do she instead invites the world in, She tells the world that they will feel right at home and this is no wonder as she looks so much like the world. She has failed to set herself apart from the world.

Some would say, "but what about all those mission trips and all those radio and TV programs?". Those are so riddled with the world's philosophies and doctrines (dispensationalism, or in other words, the 'pick and choose' workarounds for the application of scriptures, greasy grace, etc, etc.) that just like the loaf is ruined with just a little leaven the messages that are sent out are poisoned as well. Thus a false doctrinal message is preached instead of the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us  1 Corinthians 5:6-7

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

The church today holds tightly to the false doctrine that she can keep on sinning so that God's grace can much more abound. She does this despite being told not to.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Romans 6:1-2

Today's church is making excuses for her sins instead of repenting and sinning no more.

Today's church actually somehow looks worse than Lot's wife. At least Lot's wife left Sodom but she did look back which ultimately resulted in the same outcome had she not left at all.

Luke 17:28-33: Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

Remember Lot's wife.

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Genesis 19:15-17, 25-26: And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. ...And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

We really ought not to be making excuses for our sins and living in them but instead we should be forsaking our sins and sinning no more, just as Jesus told the woman caught in the act of adultery (See John 8:11).

The church today, for the most part, does not have her lamps full  and ready. She is not preparing herself for the coming Bridegroom.

Just like Lot's wife, she is more focused on the things of the world than she is on the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 25:1-13: Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish. They that [were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, [Not so]; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

2 Corinthians 11:2-4 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Philippians 3:12-14 : Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

We ought to be the bride with our lamps full and with our eyes fulling focused on Jesus Christ, the one and only Bridegroom!
