How is your walk?

Some things have happened recently that brought to light the importance of walking circumspectly as God’s word says we ought to do.

Webster’s 1828 defines circumspectly as an adverb: Cautiously; with watchfulness every way; with attention to guard against surprise or danger.

2 Corinthians 5:20 states that we are ambassadors for Christ. This means everything we say and do reflect Him as we are representatives of Him.

While the world may say that it does not matter what others think God’s word dictates a completely opposite approach to this.

A true believer must make every effort in their lives to remain above reproach. This is important as our actions, if perceived as hypocritical and contrary to God’s word, can lead someone to reject God.

For this reason we ought to ensure that our walk is indeed aligned with God’s will and that we provide no one an occasion to stumble through our actions and decisions.

With that said, how is your walk?

Are you walking in the light? Are you following Jesus Christ, the light of world or are you walking in the darkness?

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:6-7

Is God walking in you?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2 Corinthians 6:16

Are you walking in Jesus Christ?

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him…Colossians 2:6

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:6

Are you walking in the newness of life?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

Are you walking in the spirit or the flesh?

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit… That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  Romans 8:1, 4

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh… If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  Galatians 5:16, 25

Are you walking honestly?

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. Romans 13:13

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. 1 Thessalonians 4:12

Are you walking as God has called you to do?

But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. 1 Corinthians 7:17

Are you walking by faith?

For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

Are you walking according to the law or are you walking according to the law giver, the one who fulfilled the law, Jesus Christ?

As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. Galatians 6:12-16

Are you walking in good works that glorify God?

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.  Ephesians 2:10

Webster’s 1828 defines vocation as a noun:  1. Among divines, a calling by the will of God; or the bestowment of God's distinguishing grace upon a person or nation, by which that person or nation is put in the way of salvation...

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called… Ephesians 4:1

Are you walking after heavenly or worldly things?

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ… Philippians 3:13-30

Are you walking in wisdom?

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Colossians 4:5

Are you walking in truth?
