Young couples heading for marriage, be advised that marriage and parenting will reveal your selfishness and anger

Word to the wise and from someone who learned the hard way, resolve your selfishness and anger before you enter into the covenant of marriage.

A lot of unnecessary pain and suffering can be avoided for everyone if you leave your angry narcissistic tendencies on the altar before God prior to getting married. It is not worth your future help meet and children to have to endure the pain and suffering that will most assuredly arise if you go into marriage with a "WIIFM (Whats in it for me)" attitude.

Jesus tells us what attitude we ought to have in our lives, whether getting married or not. I would submit that this is even more relevant and important if one is getting married.

And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.  For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.  Mark 10:44-45

From the article posted below: "While marriage has often revealed my selfishness and parenting often showcased my anger issues, both marriage and parenting have provided the primary means through which I have become more like Jesus."

Yes, the frictions that naturally arose through my anger and selfishness as a parent and husband forced me to realize that I needed to submit myself under Jesus' authority in order to resolve those sins in my life. I became more aware that I needed to be selfless like Jesus in order to properly care for and protect those whom God entrusted to  me, my wife and children.
