This is but one of many things that evolution cannot logically explain away...why are there fossils in the so-called fossil record that are exact if not close representations of animals that actually still live today...?
Logic acrobatics and much faith is required to circumnavigate around this in order for evolutionists to make this fit into their "worldview". Birds are not the only issues as many other examples exist.
They use dishonest and inconsistent logic to explain these away as well as so-called 'living dinosaurs' (crocodiles, alligators, etc...).
