There is a more sure word than the actual voice of God so why aren't we reading it more often?

Did you realize that Peter said that the word of God, the Bible, is a more sure word of prophecy than even the literal voice of God? Peter would know this to be true as he not only heard the voice of God in the flesh, Jesus, but he also heard the literal voice of God on the mount of transfiguration. For those who doubt this claim see below for Peter’s own words regarding this truth.

I am one who believes that God’s word (KJV Bible) is perfect and in it it tells us how we ought to live. My life is based on this book but more importantly I have life through what Jesus did for me on the cross.

My concern is that there are too many self-professing Christians who say they value the Word of God yet give it little to no time in their life. There are too many today that profess that their lives are based on this book but they have yet to read it from cover to cover and give little to no time for the reading of it in their day to day activities.

One can easily read through the Bible in less than one month’s time if they give up all the worthless self-gratifying entertainment such as TV, movies, books, magazines, etc., etc. I read through it in 27 days so I know it can be done.

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.  2 Peter 1:17-21
