Jesus, the Rock of Offense

Are you one of those who cry out to the lone street preacher telling him that what he is doing is offensive and not of love?

Do you plead with him to stop what you call ‘hateful’ speech because the lone street preacher is telling the lost that they are sinners and are going to be judged and sent to hell unless they repent?

If this is you or something you would do then shame on you.

Jesus’ message was and still is offensive towards  those who are in rebellion against God. If you find preaching the entire gospel of Jesus Christ which includes the coming judgment and wrath of God to be offensive then apparently this pertains to you as well.

You need to repent and stop being hypocritical with your beliefs and actually start warning people of the wrath to come. That is, unless you really do not believe that this is an actual reality of what is to come or that somehow it is just not that important. Jesus certainly did. He was killed after several years of delivering this very message.

If you were an Oncologist and one of your patients had a deadly cancer would you withhold the details of the cancer as well as the treatment and cure from the patient? Most if not all would say of course they would tell the patient everything in order to save their life.

Well essentially you are doing the exact opposite of this when you suppress from someone dying in their sins the reality that they are heading for God’s wrath which is eternal separation from Him in utter torment.

Just like the cancer patient, they will not readily accept the cure if they are not aware that there is an issue.

No one would submit themselves to chemo or radiation therapy if they had no idea that they had the cancer that required these treatments.

When you try to give the spiritual cure, the message of cross, to a sinner who has no idea really why they need it in the first place they will not truly submit to God through Jesus and what He did on the cross.

Jesus was and still is offensive to those who are perishing.

He is the Rock of Offense.

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. 1 Peter 2:6-8

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

... except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3 (and vs. 7)

Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. Ezekiel 3:17-21
