He that committeth sin is of the devil

Churches today, for the most  part, teach a 'greasy grace' gospel that makes people feel that they are ok continuing on in their habitual sins, whatever those may be. They feel they are assured of their salvation as they continue doing the things they either know are wrong or should know are wrong.

Do not get upset thinking this is a works based salvation. Only Jesus' shed blood can save you.

Good works are a demonstration that your faith is not dead. If you have works that are good James said your faith is not dead. If you are living in sin then John said you are of the devil. Since you cannot serve two God's then you are not saved.

Jesus was much more direct on this subject. He said said if there is not evidence of any good fruit then you go to Hell. This means you never really accepted His sacrifice of forgiveness.

It is ironic that He sacrificed His life for us who did not deserve it yet He fully deserves our lives as a sacrifice to Him, yet so many try to hold back portions of themselves. They never fully surrender to Him and thus they serve two gods, which is impossible in God's economy.

In essence, if you are doing this, you are, as John alluded to, serving the devil.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.  In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 1 John 3:7-10

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? [21] Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? [22] Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? [23] And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. [24] Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. [25] Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? [26] For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:20-26

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Matthew 3:10

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? [17] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. [18] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. [19] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. [20] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:16-23

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24
